Stephanie Bulger

Dr. Stephanie Bulger is the eighth president of Lane Community College, bringing more than 20 years of leadership experience in community colleges to an institution known for academic excellence and innovation.

Previously, Dr. Bulger was a vice chancellor at the San Diego Community College District and expanded the institution’s engagement with business and industry. She also served in multiple campus and district leadership roles at Wayne County Community College District, including as the district’s vice chancellor of educational affairs, and built flexible options for students to pursue degrees and certificates through online and hybrid instruction. 

Her experience teaching English and community college leadership courses at colleges and universities has provided her direct insight into the student and faculty experience. Dr. Bulger has a passion for increasing equitable access to college and improving outcomes for students. 

She has served as a consultant on technology trends impacting higher education. Her writings on the at-risk student, educational technology, leadership, innovation, and distance learning have been published in books, industry newsletters, and monographs. Her experience working for an educational technology start-up company has influenced her to promote entrepreneurial initiatives and technology solutions that advance learning, student support, and workforce development.

She holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Michigan and degrees from the University of Utah and Brigham Young University. In her spare time, Dr. Bulger enjoys hiking, the arts, travel, family history, and the natural beauty of Oregon.
