In his role as Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School, Philip Mote collaborates with the deans and other OSU leaders to advance the university’s goals of excellence in graduate education, graduate student academic and professional success, increased diversity in the graduate student population, and the efficient and effective administration of graduate programs. Prior to his current appointment, Phillip served as associate dean for strategic initiatives in the College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, and director of the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute. He is the co-leader of the NOAA-funded Climate Impacts Research Consortium for the Northwest and he was the founding director of the Northwest Climate Science Center for the U.S. Department of the Interior. Phillip earned a B.A. in physics from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences from the University of Washington. Phillip’s Executive Assistant is Kim LeMay.
