The annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is about coming together to honor Dr. King’s life and legacy further his dream for peace working together to strengthen our communities. MLK Day of Service honors Dr. King’s legacy through service. The event empowers individuals, strengthens communities, build bridges, breaks down barriers, addresses social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of strong, beloved communities.

Monday, January 15, 2018 - A Beloved Community: Recognition and Resilience Celebration
The Annual Corvallis King Legacy Advisory Board Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration is a gathering for the entire Corvallis community will be a time to celebrate and honor the effort and commitment of our local groups to the legacy of Dr. King’s Beloved Community. While there have been many events and decisions that have given us much to grieve this past year, there have been even more instances of local communities resisting and coming together to protect and advance fairness and justice. Come celebrate these groups and our community with us.

Thursday, January 18, 2018 – Speaking Justice Workshop – Small Victories: Black + Joy + Beauty with Janae Johnson
Centered on "joy" as an organism that exists in every breath, this workshop is designed to reinforce a narrative of self-love and reclaim the hardest parts of ourselves. Janae will lead participants in a series of scaffolding and writing exercises meant to rejuvenate, affirm, celebrate, and prioritize joy as act of resistance.
