We are now accepting nominations of outstanding faculty members for the Distinguished Professor honor for 2017. Recognition is given to active OSU faculty members who have achieved national and/or international stature as a result of their contributions to scholarship/creative activity, research, education, and service, and whose work has been notably influential in their fields of specialization. We are committed to diversifying the nomination pool for distinguished professor. Please give serious attention to identifying exceptional faculty from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
The title will be awarded to faculty at the rank of professor who are not only highly regarded for their previous accomplishments, but who are also expected to continue their extraordinary work. Hence, emeritus professors are not eligible. Administrators at the level of Dean and above are not eligible for this recognition as long as they are serving in that position. Distinguished Professors possess this title for as long as they remain at Oregon State University. They will also receive a modest stipend.
A list of the criteria to be used by the Screening Committee can be found at the Provost’s Office website.
The supporting information must make the nominee's achievements and impact in research, scholarship/creative activity, education and service clear to the Screening Committee. Nominations must include an abbreviated five-page curriculum vitae and the completed nomination form all of which can be submitted online. Please note; letters of recommendation and supplemental materials will not be considered by the committee.
Nomination materials should be submitted by the College/Division Dean/VP. Nominations must be submitted online before 5:00 PM on January 17, 2017. Please contact Andrea McDaniel if you have any questions or concerns related to the Distinguished Professor Award and nomination process.
