Thank you for agreeing to serve on the search committee for Vice Provost for Enrollment Management at Oregon State University. Dr. Toni Doolen, Dean of the College of Education and the University Honors College, has agreed to chair the committee, and Gigi Bruce, Special Assistant to the Provost, will manage the search process. The University will partner with Witt Kieffer, an executive search firm, to attract an excellent and diverse candidate pool.

The search is a top priority for the university. We have elevated the position from Associate Provost to Vice Provost, consistent with the University’s goal to strengthen our strategic enrollment management capability.

The search committee will refine the position profile, create candidate screening criteria consistent with the expectations in the announcement, work with Witt Kieffer to identify and cultivate applicants, conduct screening interviews, and ultimately provide me with an unranked list of 3-4 finalists for my consideration for on-campus interviews. The list should include a brief assessment of each finalist’s qualifications. I will extend invitations to those selected for campus interviews. The search committee will arrange the interview schedule for each of the candidates; meet with the finalists brought to campus for formal interviews; and receive and summarize feedback from others involved in the interviews. I will meet with the committee to hear its advice before assuming the lead role in further discussions or negotiations with the finalists, with the goal of attracting the most highly qualified person to the position.

We will provide you with a detailed draft work plan and timeline. Our goal is for the new Vice Provost to start in September.

The Vice Provost for Enrollment Management is a vitally important leadership position at Oregon State University. I appreciate your assistance in helping to identify the best candidates and I urge you and others in the University to be vigorous and proactive in soliciting nominations and cultivating applications for this position.

Gigi Bruce will be in contact with you regarding the date, time, and location of the committee’s first meeting. Thank you, again.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
Provost and Executive Vice President
