Brenda McComb

Dr. Brenda McComb served as the dean of Oregon State University Graduate School from April 2011-2016. In January 2016, Dr. McComb was appointed as the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.

Before being named dean of the graduate school, she led the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society in OSU’s College of Forestry. As a forest researcher, Dr. McComb has studied the effects of land management practices on animals and habitats to guide development of sustainable forest management practices and advance our ability to conserve biodiversity over large and complex landscapes.  Dr. McComb has taught graduate courses in forest habitat management, ecosystem management, research methods and women’s studies.

As well as working at Oregon State (1987-1996), she held faculty appointments at the University of Kentucky, as well as administrative appointments at the University of Massachusetts and with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency before returning to Oregon State in 2009.

Dr. McComb has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Connecticut (1974 and 1976, respectively), and a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University (1979).
