Task Force on Responsible Investing: Current Actions

 

The work of the Task Force on Responsible Investing will center around considering the alignment of OSU’s investment policies with OSU’s foundational values and our mission to promote economic, social, cultural, and environmental progress for the people of Oregon, the nation, and the world. The task force will complete its work by the end of the 2024-2025 academic year. Outcomes for the task force will be shared before the start of the fall 2025-2026 term.

 

The task force will evaluate the alignment of institutional investment with OSU values and priorities, while maintaining compliance with relevant laws, regulations and policies. Anticipated actions and outcomes include:

  • Developing a shared understanding of OSU investment policies and practices.
  • Examining OSU’s current investment policies and practices in alignment with OSU values.
  • Exploring current trends and best practices implemented at other universities.
  • Proposing a future framework for an ongoing outreach and engagement plan.
  • Developing recommendations for appropriate investment policy revisions, if any, to the Associate Vice President & Controller for further consideration.

During the spring quarter, the task force completed the following:

  • Gained a shared understanding of the of purpose of OSU’s investment policy.
  • Developed and gathered feedback on a set of Investment Values Guiding Principles.
  • Proposed several options to include in an ongoing framework for community engagement and outreach on future policy amendments.

Ongoing next steps:

  • The Treasury Office will work with OSU's investment advisors to determine the practicality of recommended policy amendments and utilize the work of the task force to put forth a recommended policy amendment to the Board of Trustees.
  •  Create an ongoing outreach and engagement plan via the Treasury Office.
