The work of the Task Force on Responsible Procurement will center around considering the alignment of OSU’s procurement policies and procedures with OSU’s foundational values and our mission to promote economic, social, cultural, and environmental progress for the people of Oregon, the nation, and the world. The task force will complete its work by the end of the 2024-2025 academic year.
The task force will evaluate the alignment of institutional procurement with institutional values and priorities, while maintaining compliance with relevant laws, regulations and policies. Anticipated actions and outcomes include:
- Examining current OSU procurement policies, procedures, practices, and initiatives.
- Reviewing current trends and best practices at other universities.
- Proposing guidelines for an institutional procurement philosophy.
- Developing recommendations, if any, to improve our procurement policies and practices for the OSU president to consider.
During the winter quarter, the task force completed the following:
- Task force members shared their interests and priorities to guide the group’s work.
- Reviewed the statutory and regulatory compliance requirements, current policies, procedures and practices and relevant initiatives already in place or underway.
- Conducted research on current trends and the policies and practices of other institutions.
- Commenced discussions on an institutional procurement philosophy.
In the spring quarter, the task force will advance its work by:
- Completing the draft procurement philosophy.
- Developing draft recommendations to improve policy and practices.
- Engaging the community to receive feedback on recommendations.
- Finalizing the procurement philosophy and recommendations.
