The work of the Task Force on Responsible Procurement will center around considering the alignment within OSU’s procurement policies and procedures and to our mission to promote economic, social, cultural, and environmental progress for the people of Oregon, the nation, and the world, and OSU’s foundational values. The task force will complete its work by the end of the 2024-2025 academic year.
The task force will evaluate the alignment of institutional procurement with institutional values and priorities, while maintaining compliance with relevant laws, regulations and policies. Anticipated actions and outcomes will include:
- Examining current OSU procurement policies, procedures, practices, and initiatives.
- Reviewing current trends and best practices at other universities.
- Proposing guidelines for an institutional procurement philosophy.
- Developing recommendations, if any, to improve our procurement policies and practices for the OSU president to consider.
During the fall quarter, the task force completed the following:
- Selected committee membership and communicated to coordinate the first round of meetings.
- Prepared materials for the committee’s consideration.
In the winter quarter, the task force will advance its work by:
- Listening and gaining an understanding of task force members interests and priorities.
- Educating the task force on statutory and regulatory compliance requirements, current policies, procedures and practices and relevant initiatives already in place or underway.
- Preparing for community listening sessions later in the year.
