Susan Tornquist serves as Dean for the College of Veterinary Medicine and Professor of Clinical Pathology. She has Bachelor’s degrees from Michigan State University and the University of New Mexico, an M.S. from the University of New Mexico, a DVM from Colorado State University and residency training and a PhD from Washington State University. She was in a private veterinary practice for 6 years before returning to academia, joined the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine faculty in 1996, and was appointed Associate Dean for Student and Academic Affairs in 2005.  

Dr. Tornquist continues to head a diagnostic clinical pathology lab and provides diagnostic services in addition to teaching several courses in the professional program. Her research has most recently focused on hematology, infectious, and metabolic diseases of camelids, and diagnostic techniques in a variety of animal species.
