Carla Ho’ā named OSU’s Vice President for Finance and Administration

Aug. 7, 2024

Dear OSU Community Members,

I am delighted to share that Carla Ho’ā has been named the university’s next vice president for finance and administration. She will begin her new role Sept. 3.

Carla, who was selected after a national search, is an established leader bringing more than three decades of experience in higher education finance to this critical role.

As vice president for finance and administration, Carla will lead a division with more than 600 employees across ten distinct units, including budget and fiscal planning, accounting and treasury operations, enterprise project management, capital planning and construction, facilities maintenance, transportation, environmental health and safety, procurement and contracting, and public safety.

Carla will report to me and will serve as a key advisor and member of the President’s cabinet. She also will serve as an ex officio member of the OSU Board of Trustees’ Finance and Administration Committee and work closely with the committee’s chair.

Carla most recently served as interim chief financial officer and vice president for administration and finance at California Polytechnic State University, Humboldt. Previously, she served as vice chancellor for administrative affairs at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and as vice chancellor and chief financial officer and in several other finance and administration roles at the University of Colorado. She holds a master of business administration and a bachelor of science in finance from the University of Colorado, Denver.

I extend my gratitude to Search Advisory Committee Chair and Dean of the Sara Hart Kimball College of Business, Tim Carroll, and the entire committee. Their dedication and expertise were invaluable throughout this process.

I also want to express my sincere appreciation to Mike Green, who has served in the role since 2017 and announced his plans to retire earlier this year. Mike’s leadership and wise counsel helped steer OSU through both challenges and triumphs.

Please join me in welcoming Carla to Oregon State University.

Sincerely,

Jayathi Murthy
President
