Research Communication

To the Oregon State University academic and research community,

Reports about federal agencies being required to restrict or freeze research grants and restrict external communications have given rise to uncertainty among members of the university community.

While such actions are unsettling, we should keep in mind that it is often standard practice at the start of new administrations for the White House to ask federal officials and agencies to temporarily halt communications and suspend regulatory and funding actions until further review.

We are writing to assure you that Oregon State University’s Offices of Research and Governmental Relations are monitoring developments taking place at the federal level that may affect research.

As we learn more, we will keep the university’s academic and research community informed. Moreover, Oregon State University leaders are working with national partners, including the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities, staff members within federal agencies, and members of the Oregon Congressional delegation to receive updated information, and to voice university concerns when needed.

We will continue to monitor federal decisions that affect the OSU research community.  As information becomes available, we will communicate with you.  If you have questions about your federal grants or contracts, please contact the Research Office.

Thank you for your work in advancing the research mission of our university.

Sincerely,

Ron Adams
Interim Provost and Executive Vice President
