Dean, College of Science

Roy Haggerty has served as the dean of the College of Science at Oregon State University since 2017. Prior to this position, Dr. Haggerty served as interim dean of the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences and as associate vice president for research at OSU. An OSU faculty member for over 20 years, Dr. Haggerty held the Hollis M. Dole Professor of Environmental Geology in the College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America. His research in hydrology and geology has been applied to nuclear waste disposal problems in the U.S. and Sweden, to groundwater contamination, and to transport of nutrients, carbon, and heat in streams. Dr. Haggerty’s work has been supported by more than $9 million in grants and contracts from the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, the USDA Forest Service, and several other organizations in the U.S. and abroad, resulting in more than 70 peer-reviewed publications. He received a bachelor’s degree in Honors Geology from the University of Alberta and earned a master’s and doctorate from Stanford University.
