Associate Vice President, Research Administration and Development

Tuba Özkan-Haller was appointed in 2019 to serve as associate vice president for research administration and development with OSU’s Research Office. She is a professor in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEAOS). She also holds a joint appointment in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering of OSU’s College of Engineering. Prior to her appointment in the Research Office, she served for two years as associate dean for research and faculty advancement in CEOAS. She has also been a co-PI of the OREGON STATE ADVANCE program since 2014. She served on the Strategic Plan 4.0 Steering Committee. Dr. Özkan-Haller’s research program focuses on achieving a predictive understanding of the nearshore ocean, and she has built a successful inter-disciplinary research program and participated in large campus-wide efforts, including the Pacific Marine Energy Center. She is passionate about communicating science to the public and has appeared in numerous documentaries produced by the History Channel, the National Geographic Channel, and Oregon Public Broadcasting. She is the recipient of the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, the Outstanding Faculty Member Award at the University of Michigan as well as the Pattullo Award for Excellence in Teaching Award, and Woman of Excellence Award at OSU. Dr. Özkan-Haller received her doctorate degree in civil engineering at the University of Delaware. She will serve as the search advocate on the Presidential Search Committee.
