Oregon State University colleagues,

I am writing to inform you that Clay Simmons will return to his home state to become chief compliance officer at the University of North Texas, effective Aug. 1. We congratulate him on this appointment and wish him every success in his new role.

Clay came to Oregon State from the University of Texas at Austin in the fall of 2014 to serve as the university’s first chief compliance officer. He has been instrumental in developing and implementing a university-wide compliance and ethics program including risk assessment, policy development and training. In his role he has ably has helped promote and sustain a culture of respect and honesty while maintaining compliance with the law.

At Oregon State, Clay also served as interim director of Equal Opportunity and Access and Title IX Coordinator from February 2016 to March 2017, and has served as a member of the University Cabinet and the Provost’s Senior Leadership Team.

We will celebrate Clay’s contributions to Oregon State before his departure. Meanwhile, I will be working with Clay and others on a succession plan for his role as chief compliance officer.

Edward Feser
Provost and Executive Vice President
