To: OSU Community

From: Edward Feser, Provost and Executive Vice President

April 25, 2019

Dear Colleagues:

On behalf of President Ray, it is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Dr. Colleen Bee as Oregon State University’s new Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), effective June 1.

Dr. Bee, Associate Professor and Program Director of Marketing in the College of Business, has served as a member and past chair of the Athletic Advisory Committee and as OSU’s Coalition of Intercollegiate Athletics representative. Her academic, administrative, and leadership experiences and her knowledge as a sports business academic and scholar will serve her well in this role.

The FAR provides oversight of the academic integrity of the University’s athletics program and serves as an advocate for student-athlete well-being. The FAR also serves as a representative for faculty interests regarding athletics to the President and the Athletic Director. Similarly, the FAR provides updates to the Faculty Senate regarding athletic matters. As the senior faculty advisor on athletics to the President, the FAR serves as Oregon State’s representative to the PAC12 Council and as an official university delegate at NCAA meetings.

As FAR-designate, Colleen will work closely with current FAR, Dr. Joey Spatafora, and many others to ensure a smooth transition.

Thank you to the FAR screening committee, chaired by Dr. Becky Johnson, for their work in recruiting and screening applicants.

Please join me in congratulating Colleen on her new role, and thanking Joey for his outstanding service as FAR since 2010.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
Provost and Executive Vice President
