Oregon State University Colleagues,

I am writing to inform you that Faye A. Chadwell, the Donald and Delpha Campbell University Librarian at Oregon State University Libraries and Press since 2011, has been selected to serve as the Dean of University Libraries and Scholarly Communications at Pennsylvania State University, effective March 1.

Please join me in congratulating Faye on her appointment and thanking her for her excellent leadership at OSU. We wish Faye great success in her new role.

Faye began her career at Oregon State with her appointment as the Associate University Librarian for Collections and Content Management in 2007. With her colleagues in the Libraries, she has pursued many initiatives contributing to the University’s mission and strategic priorities: the passage of Oregon State’s Open Access policy in 2013, the establishment of a diversity residency program, promotion of affordable/open educational resources, and the development of data management services.

She helped lead the establishment of strategic campus partnerships that reimagine the use of Valley Library spaces while enriching the learning environment for OSU students, such as through the Undergraduate Research and Writing Studio and the Graduate Student Commons. She has deployed resources to support the professional development of library personnel and to sustain a culture of experimentation leading to improved services, programs, and collections. Faye has been a strong advocate for strengthening equity, diversity, and inclusion within University Libraries and Press, across the University campus and within the library profession.

Senior Vice Provost Susan Capalbo will launch a national search for a new University Librarian and will immediately begin the process to identify someone to serve in the interim position until the search is completed.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
Provost and Executive Vice President
