OSU Academic and Administrative Leaders,
Gov. Kate Brown issued an executive order yesterday directing state agencies to conserve water in response to worsening drought conditions across the state. Her announcement is shared here.
While this executive order does not apply directly to Oregon State University or the state’s other independent public universities, OSU acknowledges the serious drought occurring statewide; supports the spirit and intent of the governor’s executive order; and will take appropriate actions to conserve water within all university buildings and external operations. OSU Facilities Services is reviewing their existing water conservation practices to consider further measures on the Corvallis campus. Similar reviews will take shape at OSU-Cascades and at the Hatfield Marine Science Center for external grounds. Experiment stations, extension offices, and other OSU locations should likewise review their landscape practices.
Meanwhile, please consider the measures you can take within your areas of responsibility to limit water usage, whether it be related to an activity inside or outside your building spaces.
If you have questions about the university’s response or need assistance in water conservation planning, please contact Paul Odenthal, senior associate vice president for administration.
Provost and Executive Vice President
