20 October 2021

Dear OSU faculty and staff,

I hope the new term is off to a good start for you and you’re enjoying the energy and excitement of a new academic year as much as I am.

One of my priorities each academic year is to offer opportunities for the OSU community to hear and learn from renowned thinkers and leaders. Thank you to those who participated in University Day, where we hosted Dr. Holden Thorp, Editor-in-Chief of Science, as our keynote speaker. You can find a recording of Holden’s remarks here, if you missed it.

Next week, OSU and the OSU Foundation will host David Eagleman for the Provost’s Lecture Series. Eagleman, a neuroscientist, internationally bestselling author, entrepreneur, Guggenheim Fellow, and adjunct professor at Stanford University, is an engaging and dynamic speaker. His lecture on the astonishing plasticity of the human brain and his latest book—Livewired: The Inside Story of the Ever-Changing Brain—will be on Wednesday, October 27 at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. Please pre-register here.

Good luck with the term and I hope you join us on the 27th.

Edward Feser

Provost and Executive Vice President
