To: OSU faculty and staff

From: Edward Feser, Provost and Executive Vice President

June 3, 2019

Dear OSU faculty and staff,

It is my pleasure to inform you that Jon Boeckenstedt will begin his appointment as OSU’s vice provost for enrollment management (VPEM) effective June 30.

With over 35 years of experience, Jon is a nationally recognized leader in enrollment management, including with small and large private colleges and universities, institutions with highly selective and non-selective admissions processes, diverse prospective student groups, and urban and rural populations. He brings a background in marketing strategy, enrollment management analytics, and data visualization. His experience in the enrollment management domain includes projections, predictive modeling, customer relationship management systems, legal affairs, information technology, financial aid allocation, and university marketing, and he has served a consultant to colleges and universities on enrollment and marketing challenges. He was among the first in the nation to present on the concept of university branding and has published on the subject of college admissions.

Since 2002, Jon has served as associate vice president for enrollment management and marketing at DePaul University, a highly values-driven institution committed to an inclusive excellence vision much like Oregon State’s. In this role, he provided strategic leadership on enrollment planning and projections, interpreted internal and external analysis of market data, coordinated strategy regarding the allocation of new undergraduate student institutional awards, oversaw the offices that recruit and admit new undergraduate students, and contributed to the university’s transfer student success initiatives. Jon served as dean and vice president of enrollment management at St. Bonaventure University from 1995-2002.

I extend my sincere thanks to Noah Buckley for serving as interim associate provost for enrollment management since June 2018. Noah has led efforts to significantly improve transfer student admissions and support, develop a more comprehensive enrollment management strategy, and improve scholarship practices. Noah will return to his role as director of admissions, which he has held since 2011. I also thank the search committee, chaired by Dean Toni Doolen, for recruiting a strong slate of finalists to meet with the university community.

Please join me in congratulating Jon on his appointment as vice provost for enrollment management, and thanking Noah for serving Oregon State in the interim role for the past year.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
Provost and Executive Vice President
