Oregon State University colleagues,

I am writing to inform you that Lois Brooks has been selected to serve as the chief information officer and vice provost for information technology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, effective Aug. 1.

We congratulate Lois on her appointment, thank her for her excellent leadership at OSU, and wish her great success in her new role.

Lois was appointed Oregon State’s vice provost for information services in the fall of 2010. During her time at OSU, she has worked with colleagues to create a strategic plan for the university’s information technology enterprise; reorganized her division to align with university priorities; and contributed to OSU’s strategies to improve student success by strengthening learning environments, such as technology-enhanced classrooms and the Learning Innovation Center.

Lois has been a strong advocate for supporting data-driven leadership and has worked to enhance diversity, inclusivity and accessibility. Under her leadership, the division has supported new services and efficiency tools such as E-procurement, electronic research administration, DocuSign, Box, WebEx and Google. Further, Lois has deployed resources to enhance information security and operational improvements. She has served as a member of the Provost’s Executive Committee and has worked closely with IT governance groups within OSU and academic leadership to establish principles and priorities for technology infrastructure investment.

We will launch a national search for a new vice provost for information and technology immediately. In the meantime, I am pleased to announce that Jon Dolan, currently associate provost for information services, has agreed to serve as interim vice provost. Jon has a long and successful history at OSU, having served in a variety of roles in the division of information services, including roles in network services and network security.

We will have an opportunity to celebrate Lois’ many contributions to Oregon State before her departure.

Please join me in congratulating Lois and welcoming Jon into his new role.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
Provost and Executive Vice President
