OSU Pandemic Resumption Plans to be Shared Monday

To: OSU faculty and staff

From: Edward Feser, Provost and Executive Vice President

May 7, 2020

Dear OSU faculty and staff,

I am writing to update you on our efforts to prepare for the resumption of on-site university activities during the last few weeks of summer and the fall term, conditions permitting and in compliance with state and local health authority guidelines.

We have developed a detailed resumption framework and plan that allows for multiple pandemic scenarios and flexible approaches throughout all OSU locations and facilities, including our campuses in Corvallis and Bend, Hatfield Marine Science Center, Extension offices and experiment stations. However, updated state guidance released by Governor Kate Brown today will require us to make minor adjustments to the plan. We will incorporate the latest state guidelines and communicate the plan on Monday.

In the meantime, I ask all OSU units throughout Oregon not to interpret the state’s guidance for their individual circumstances. Instead, please wait for unified OSU planning guidance. This will avoid duplication of effort, minimize confusion and ensure the university is fully aligned.

Thank you for your understanding. I hope you and your family members are well and safe.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
Provost and Executive Vice President
