The provost’s senior leadership team consists of the leaders charged with overseeing the administrative units and special initiatives supporting and advancing the academic goals of the University.

Jack Barth is the Executive Director of the Marine Studies Initiative (MSI) and Professor of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences. Building on a deep history of nationally ranked academic programs, world-leading research and premier facilities in Corvallis and on the coast, MSI is pioneering a new multi-disciplinary teaching, research and engagement model to help sustain healthy oceans and ensure wellness, environmental health and economic prosperity for future generations. An expert in coastal oceanography and marine low-oxygen zones, Jack received a PhD in Oceanography in 1987 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program in Oceanography. He presently serves on the Oregon Ocean Policy Advisory Council’s Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee and co-chairs the Oregon Ocean Acidification and Hypoxia Coordinating Council. Jack is a Fellow of The Oceanography Society and the American Meteorological Society. His Administrative Assistant is Virginia Neylon.

Steph Bernell is the Interim Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School, member of the Provost’s Executive Committee, and Associate Professor of Health Policy. Prior to her appointment in the Graduate School, Steph served as Program Director of the Health Management and Policy Program from 2004 to 2016. In her current position, Steph collaborates with the deans and other leaders to increase the university’s national reputation in graduate education, diversity of the graduate student population, graduate student retention and success, and efficient and effective administration of graduate programs. Steph has taught over 80 courses at Oregon State, primarily in the areas of health policy and health economics. Steph’s scholarly work combines a deep interest in health policy and politics with a desire to use economic tools to address an array of pressing public health problems. Her publications span the gamut of public health issues, including health reform, chronic disease, obesity, and hunger. Steph holds bachelors in Economic Theory and masters in Economics from American University and a PhD in Health Economics from Johns Hopkins University. Steph’s Executive Assistant is Kim LeMay.

Sherm Bloomer is the Director of Budget and Fiscal Planning, member of the Provost’s Executive Committee, and Professor of Geology and Geophysics. Reporting both to the Vice President for Finance and Administration and the Provost, Sherm oversees development of the university’s Education and General Funds (E&G) budget, provision of University-wide fiscal planning support, development of tuition rate projections and recommendations for University senior leadership, and budget management and reporting. Prior to his current role he served as dean for the College of Science. A respected geologist with 22 years of teaching undergraduate and graduate students, Sherm holds a BS in Geology from Rice University and a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the University of California at San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography. His Executive Assistant is Karren Cholewinski.

In her role as Special Assistant to the Provost and member of the Provost’s Executive Committee and the Provost’s Senior Leadership Team, Gigi Bruce supports the Provost on major strategic and administrative initiatives, works with senior university administrators and other colleagues across the University to make effective use of the Provost's time, coordinates the Provost’s office work plan and agendas and oversees project management to advance the Provost's priorities. She manages senior leadership searches, serves as administrative and business manager of the Office of the Provost, and oversees engagement and communications. She serves as Secretary to the INTO OSU Joint Venture Board and as part of the Senior International Officer’s team to advance the internationalization goals of the University. Gigi has a nearly 30 year career in higher education, serving three provosts and a president, and over fifteen years as a Faculty Senator. Gigi’s assistant is Kayleen Eng.

Noah Buckley is the Interim Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and a member of the Provost's Senior Leadershiop Team. Noah has worked in college admissions and student recruitment since 1998 and joined Oregon State University as Director of Admissions in 2011.  Prior to OSU, he served in the same role at his alma mater, the University of Wyoming.  There, he earned his BS in Marketing and an MBA.  He was the first in his family to attend college. Noah recently completed a two-year stint as chair of ICAR, a collaborative group of admission colleagues from Oregon’s public universities formed to serve high school students and counselors in the college selection and admissions process.  He also serves on Oregon’s statewide AP/IB Workgroup, and numerous policy, access and enrollment workgroups and committees at OSU. Noah's assistant is Joy Jorgensen.

Susan Capalbo is Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, member of the Provost’s Executive Committee, and Professor of Applied Economics. She is charged with advancing the University’s goal to attract, retain and support an academically outstanding and diverse faculty. In that capacity, she oversees the development of academic policies and procedures, University-level promotion and tenure review, faculty awards and recognition programs, diverse faculty and dual career hiring programs, faculty leadership development programs, and faculty personnel matters that rise to the University level. She is also currently responsible for the University’s accreditation, is serving as the University’s interim Senior International Officer, and coordinates with the deans and other colleagues in the recruitment of reputational faculty. In her role as Senior Vice Provost, Susan assists the Provost in developing and executing the shared work plan of the Provost’s Executive Committee, chairs the Provost’s Executive Committee and Provost’s Council of Deans in the Provost’s absence, represents the Provost at the Faculty Senate when necessary, and leads the development of the University’s next strategic plan. Susan earned her PhD in agricultural economics at the University of California-Davis, her BS and MS in resource economics at the University of Rhode Island. She is a former Head of the Department of Applied Economics at OSU and has held appointments at Montana State University and Columbia University. Susan’s Executive Assistant is Sara Daly.

Jon Dolan is the Interim Vice Provost for University Information & Technology and a member of the Provost’s Executive Committee. Reporting to the Provost, Jon provides senior strategic leadership for the IT environment at OSU including direct oversight of Institutional Analytics and Reporting and central Information Services, covering all aspects of data and technology services that enable scholarship, learning, and community engagement in an environment where innovation and academic excellence thrive. Prior to his current role he served in various IT leadership capacities at OSU with over 25 years of experience in IT Infrastructure and Operations, Networks and Communications, and IT Help Desk. Jon holds a BS in Mathematics from Oregon State University and an MS in Applied Information Systems from the University of Oregon. Jon's Executive Assistant is Lisa Wetherell.

Rich Duncombe is the Director of the OSU Impact Studio. The Impact Studio is a place for teams of faculty, administrators and staff to develop, test and incubate bold ideas that will make a significant impact, and advance the University’s strategic goals such as net revenue growth and diversification. Rich has built organizations within Fortune 50 technology companies and universities that expand the portfolio of those organizations. He is passionate about catalyzing initiatives that make a positive impact. Rich builds innovation systems that advance an organization’s mission, deliver growth, change the culture, and motivate employees. His leadership includes company founder, business unit VP and university director. Rich has a MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of California Berkeley and a BSEE from Oregon State University. Bob Gilmour is the Executive Director of INTO Oregon State University.  In this role, Bob provides leadership for a teaching center with 900 students and 140 staff and faculty.  Bob has over 26 years’ experience of working with international students in UK and US universities as an instructor, faculty member, program manager and director.  He has also lived and worked in France, Poland and Ecuador.  He has presented at conferences nationally and internationally on a variety of topics including multimedia online learning environments and international student engagement.  In the last three years, Bob has also spent a lot of time traveling the world meeting with students who are looking to study at OSU!  In his spare time, Bob rides his road bike around the Oregon countryside, sings and plays guitar in a band and competes in a wide variety of games against his two boys. Becky Johnson is Vice President for Oregon State University-Cascades and Professor of Forest Resources. In her role, Becky is leading the development and expansion of OSU’s first and only branch campus, and the only baccalaureate and graduate degree granting institution based in Central Oregon. She has extensive experience in academic leadership and administration. Prior to becoming Vice President for OSU-Cascades, Becky served as OSU’s Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and International Programs and as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and International Programs in OSU’s College of Forestry. Her research expertise is in the estimation of the economic value and impact of non-market resources, including recreation and tourism, fish and wildlife, and biodiversity. She received a BA in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MS and PhD in agricultural economics from Michigan State University. Becky’s Executive Assistant is Shawn Taylor.

Dan Larson is Interim Vice Provost for Student Affairs and member of the Provost’s Executive Committee. Dan provides senior strategic leadership and oversight of co-curricular and extra-curricular programs designed to provide an outstanding student experience at Oregon State University and ensure student success, including co-curricular academic achievement and progress programs, student life programs and services, including fraternity and sorority life and student conduct, diversity programming and the cultural centers, student leadership and involvement programs, counseling and health services, career development, international student support services, housing and dining, recreational sports, and the student union. Dan holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western Oregon State College (now Western Oregon University) and a master’s degree in College Student Services and Administration from Oregon State University, and has held several leadership roles at OSU, including Associate Vice Provost and Interim Dean of Student Life, Associate Vice Provost and Executive Director of University Housing and Dining Services, and Interim Director of Facilities Services. His Executive Assistant is Jen Humphreys.

Romeo Lopez Gonzalez serves as the Executive Secretary to the Provost and Executive Vice President. He provides executive-level administrative support to the Provost, including facilitating all scheduling needs and requirements of the Provost, preparing the Provost’s daily agenda and itinerary, and travel. Romeo earned a Ed.M. in College Student Services Administration, a BS in Ethnic Studies, and a BS in Human Development Family Sciences from Oregon State University.

Andrea McDaniel serves as the Executive Assistant to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Special Events and Outreach and Director of Commencement. She coordinates events for the Provost including, but not limited to, the Distinguished Professor Lectures, Recognizing Excellence Celebration, New Employee Welcome Breakfast, Promotion and Tenure Reception and the Authors and Editors events. She provides website maintenance and design for the Office of the  Provost and the Office of Faculty Affairs, and prepares the Provost's remarks at events and speaking engagements. Andrea served as Assistant to the Director of Admissions prior to taking her current position. She holds a BS in Animal Science from Oregon State University.

Scott Reed is Vice Provost for University Outreach and Engagement, member of the Provost’s Executive Committee, and Professor of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management. In his role, Scott directs the OSU Extension Service, providing strategic leadership and oversight of Oregon State University’s nationally regarded outreach and engagement programs, including faculty, staff and offices in every county in the state. Scott is charged with creating opportunities for Extension experts to engage with business people, growers, foresters, youth, and community leaders across Oregon then consult with OSU faculty to focus inquiry and teaching on issues important to Oregon communities. Scott has served at OSU since 1990 in various College of Forestry roles, including professor, executive associate dean and extension program leader. He holds a PhD in policy and economics from the University of Minnesota and bachelor and master of science degrees in forestry from Michigan State University. Scott’s Executive Assistant is Jackie Russell.

Lisa Templeton is Associate Provost for Extended Campus and a member of the Provost's Senior Leadership team. She provides strategic leadership and oversight for units whose collective mission is to provide adult learners in Oregon and around the world with access to an OSU high-quality education. The Division of Extended Campus encompasses OSU Professional and Continuing Education, OSU Ecampus, OSU Summer Session, Open Oregon State, the OSU Ecampus Research Unit, and OSU Global Opportunities.Templeton has been with OSU Extended Campus since 2000. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Ohio State University, Ed.M in Adult Education from Oregon State University, and a certificate from the Institute for Leadership in Online Education from the Online Learning Consortium and Penn State University. VACANT: Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE), member of the Provost’s Executive Committee, and Provost's Senior Leadership Team. The VPUE will collaborate with the academic deans, the Faculty Senate, and other administrators to advance the university’s goals of offering high quality undergraduate programs onsite, online and in hybrid format; design diverse, well-supported and affordable pathways to an OSU degree; create more opportunities for student research and experiential learning; and deliver instruction using leading edge pedagogies and technologies. These activities are critical underpinnings of student success and complement student success efforts in the colleges, at OSU-Cascades, Hatfield and other locations, and within the Division of Student Affairs. VACANT: OSU’s Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), oversees programs designed to promote and maintain the University's culture of respect and honesty, build ethics consciousness into the daily activities of faculty and staff, and maintain the University’s compliance with the law in an increasingly complex higher education regulation environment. The CCO directs the Office of University Compliance, which supports the University in six primary areas: risk assessment, policy management, training and general education, operational support, effort coordination, and monitoring of program effectiveness. The CCO is the first point of contact for faculty and staff at OSU for ethics questions and guidance. The CCO's assistant will be Susie Barba.
