University, UAOSU reach tentative collective bargaining agreement

To: OSU faculty, staff and students

From: Edward Feser, Provost and Executive Vice President

June 5, 2020

Dear OSU faculty, staff and students,

I am writing to share that the bargaining teams for United Academics of Oregon State University (UAOSU) and the university have reached tentative agreement on an inaugural faculty union collective bargaining agreement.

I understand the union will hold a ratification vote on June 12 and, depending on the outcome of that vote, UAOSU and the university may then sign and implement the agreement.

I extend my sincere thanks to the members of the UAOSU and university bargaining teams. These colleagues devoted considerable time to fully considering, discussing and reaching tentative agreement on the many important and diverse aspects of an inaugural labor agreement. That took a commitment to productive dialogue, patience and attention to detail. Since March 23, 2019, the bargaining teams met in 52 bargaining sessions, including a 26-hour session on May 27-28.

Here is a link to the university website on faculty union bargaining, which includes a link to the tentative agreement. Again, nothing in this tentative agreement is official until first ratified by union membership and later signed by UAOSU and the university.

If you have questions, please reach out to UAOSU leaders or Heather Horn, associated vice provost and senior director of employee and labor relations. I will provide further bargaining agreement updates as more information is available.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
Provost and Executive Vice President
