May 8, 2023

From the Office of the President, Jayathi Y. Murthy

Dear OSU Faculty and Staff,

I write to share that Becky Bangs has been appointed as executive director for the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access and OSU’s Title IX coordinator effective May 15.

Becky has steadfastly and well served the university as director of Equal Opportunity Investigations and deputy Title IX coordinator for over three years. During this time, she has developed a keen understanding for the overall functions of EOA, contributed greatly in her roles, and has established valuable relationships across the university that will serve her well as EOA executive director and Title IX coordinator.

Becky’s time before OSU includes eight years working for Multnomah County, helping to create safer, more equitable, and inclusive communities through collaborations involving law enforcement, advocacy agencies, county, city and state programs.

Becky has five years of additional experience working with students and four years of experience as a confidential domestic and sexual violence advocate.

Becky is an Oregon State University alumna, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and minors in Spanish and psychology. She obtained her Master of Arts degree in intercultural service, leadership and management from the School for International Training Graduate Institute in Vermont.

I express my sincere appreciation to Susan Freccia, director of compliance, who has served as interim EOA executive director and Title IX coordinator since Kim Kirkland’s retirement and while the search was being conducted.

Please join me in congratulating Becky on her new role and in thanking Susan.

Sincerely,

Jayathi Y. Murthy
