Ecampus again achieves top 10 ranking

Feb. 7, 2024

Dear OSU Colleagues,

Thanks to the dedication and commitment of more than 1,200 OSU faculty members, administrators and staff, Oregon State University Ecampus is now home to over 100 online degree programs that challenge and engage thousands of students each year.  This important element of our educational mission is helping many more people around the world enter the workforce with the knowledge and skills to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

Today I’m pleased to share news of another notable achievement for OSU. For the 10th consecutive year, OSU has earned a top-10 national ranking from U.S. News & World Report based on the quality of its online bachelor’s degree programs. Oregon State ranks No. 4 in the annual report and is the only institution in the nation — public or private — to place in the top 10 each of the past 10 years.

External rankings are imperfect, but recognition consistently at this level reflects our commitment to the delivery of the highest quality online education and acknowledges our reputation among students and peer institutions as a national leader in this domain. Our new strategic plan, Prosperity Widely Shared: The Oregon State Plan, calls for making online education programs even more accessible to meet learner demands. Distinctions such as this —driven by an emphasis on quality and providing every student with the support necessary to succeed — will help us achieve our target of more than doubling online-only enrollment by 2030.

OSU received four additional top-25 rankings from U.S. News & World Report:

  • No. 2 — Best Online Psychology Bachelor’s Programs.
  • No. 3 — Best Online Business Bachelor’s Programs.
  • No. 13 — Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans.
  • No. 22 — Best Online Master’s in Engineering Programs.

Today’s news marks a proud moment for all of us in the OSU community. I would like to thank our faculty, advisors, colleges and departments for their efforts in offering excellent academic programs online; the Ecampus staff for its leadership and culture of partnership; and everyone who contributes to the success of OSU students enrolled online around the world.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
