Dear OSU Community Members,

I am pleased to share that thanks to the outstanding work of university faculty and Ecampus staff, Oregon State University is ranked No. 5 in the nation for online bachelor’s degree programs, according to 2022 rankings published today by U.S. News & World Report.

While earning rankings is never the goal of OSU’s educational mission, we are pleased when our work receives such recognition. This ranking underscores the widely held view that OSU is a national model for high-quality online education due to programs developed and delivered by OSU faculty and colleges in collaboration with the Ecampus team.

This is OSU’s eighth consecutive year in the nation’s top 10 and reflects the university-wide contributions of more than 1,000 faculty and staff members. Congratulations to the faculty, advisors, colleges and departments that offer excellent academic programs online; to the entire Ecampus team for their outstanding work and leadership; and to all who provide robust support services for the success of our students around the world.

U.S. News & World Report includes four additional top-25 rankings for Oregon State:

  • No. 2 — Best Online Psychology Bachelor’s Programs.
  • No. 4 — Best Online Business Bachelor’s Programs.
  • No. 13 — Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans.
  • No. 24 — Best Online Master’s in Engineering Programs.

The publication evaluates online bachelor’s programs on four factors: student engagement; faculty credentials and training; services and technologies; and expert opinion. OSU ranked among the nation’s best in terms of faculty expertise and Ecampus’ ability to help prepare those instructors to teach online.

Ecampus delivers more than 90 undergraduate and graduate programs online to learners in all 50 states and more than 60 countries. In the 2020-21 academic year, Ecampus served more than 12,000 individual students exclusively online.

Online education is an essential contributor in delivering on the university’s commitment to provide access to a high quality higher education in modalities that best serve the increasingly diverse needs and goals of all learners. Thank you to all who contribute to the success of Ecampus and all of Oregon State’s efforts to provide accessible higher education of the highest quality.

Sincerely,
