Dear OSU Community Members,

I know that many of us are reflecting on yesterday’s news that the University of Colorado Board of Regents voted to approve CU’s plan to leave the Pac-12 Conference. I want to reassure you that CU’s decision does not alter the commitment that Oregon State University and other Pac-12 members have to one another and to our ongoing and meaningful collaborations not only in athletics, but also across our research and education missions. Our shared values, our passion for the highest level of intercollegiate athletic competition and our leadership roles as Tier 1 research universities unite us.

In today’s rapidly changing environment, the realignment we are experiencing in national intercollegiate athletics is not unexpected. Please know that we, along with other Pac-12 members, are proactively managing these changes, and our OSU team is working effectively to safeguard OSU’s interests while advocating for the continued strength and vitality of the Pac-12 Conference as a whole.

Yesterday, the Pac-12 Board of Directors met and reaffirmed our commitment to one another and our confidence in concluding our media rights deal and securing the conference’s continued success and growth. Immediately following the conclusion of our media rights deal, the conference will embrace expansion opportunities and bring new fans, markets, excitement and value to the Pac-12.

Today, I’m confident all Beavers are undaunted as we express our enthusiasm and pride in OSU student-athletes. They inspire us with their extraordinary achievements in competition, in the classroom and in the community. We can all look forward to an exciting year for Beaver Nation.

Sincerely,

Jayathi Murthy
