Dear OSU Community,
Please join us on Tuesday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. for a conversation with Margaret Atwood, the first event in the 2024-25 Provost’s Lecture Series.
This event, which is co-sponsored by the OSU Foundation and the College of Liberal Arts, will be held in the Austin Auditorium in the LaSells Stewart Center. It is free and open to the public; Register here to attend. It will also be streamed at live.oregonstate.edu.
Atwood is an award-winning, bestselling author of more than fifty books of fiction, poetry, critical essays and graphic novels, including the bestseller The Handmaid’s Tale. Published in more than forty-five countries, her works have garnered the 2019 Booker Prize (The Testaments), the Giller Prize in Canada and the Premio Mondello in Italy (Alias Grace), and the 2000 Booker Prize (The Blind Assassin). Among many accolades, Atwood has received the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, the Franz Kafka International Literary Prize, the PEN Center USA Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Los Angeles Times Innovator's Award.
In a moderated conversation with Jennifer Richter, associate professor of English and creative writing in the School of Writing, Literature, and Film, Atwood will draw on the diverse themes in her wide-ranging body of work to offer a keen and prescient look at the hidden truths of our society and a glimpse of where we might go next.
I look forward to seeing you next month.
Sincerely,
Edward Feser
Provost and Executive Vice President
