March 24, 2025

Dear OSU Community Members,

I am pleased to announce the 2025 University Day Keynote: Dr. Daniel Porterfield.

University Day is Oregon State University’s celebratory launch to the academic year when we welcome new employees and celebrate excellent work in teaching, research, and engagement. Part of this event is the University Day Lecture, delivered by a distinguished speaker who inspires us to reflect on our roles as educators committed to delivering OSU’s land grant research university mission.

Dr. Porterfield is President and CEO of the Aspen Institute, a global nonprofit organization committed to realizing a free, just, and equitable society. He has been recognized as a visionary strategist, transformational leader, devoted educator, and passionate advocate for justice and opportunity. At the Aspen Institute, Porterfield has led an era of organizational development and growth. He is the former president of Franklin & Marshall College, and author of the 2024 book Mindset Matters: The Power of College to Activate Lifelong Growth.

You will receive additional details about University Day activities in the coming months. This event is open to everyone in the OSU community.

Best wishes for a productive spring term.
