The Oregon State University Board of Trustees recognizes that few moments have more significance to the university than the selection and transition of a new president. In order to facilitate a thoughtful and smooth presidential transition, the chair of the Board has appointed an Incoming President Transition Committee. OSU trustee Julie Manning chairs the committee, and trustee Kirk Schueler serves as vice chair.
Transition Overview
The charge to the Incoming President Transition Committee was to develop a framework to guide the transition, which included the period of time prior to the president’s arrival on July 1, 2020, and throughout the entire first year. Work was organized into three phases: planning, pre-arrival, and year one.
Throughout the transition process, the committee will be responsible for developing effective communications to support a successful transition for the president and the university and broader community. The committee will engage broadly with stakeholders within and outside of the university in strategically crafting and sequencing opportunities for connection throughout the president’s first year.
Engaging with the President
Involvement from OSU faculty, students, staff, and administrators as well as members of the broader community will be important to ensuring the president is positioned and prepared for immediate- and long-term success at the university. Please watch for opportunities to interact with the president.
