Engage in the Retrospective Review of the 2019 Presidential Search Process
To help inform and set a course for the next search, the Board is completing a retrospective review of the 2019 presidential search process. A retrospective review is an opportunity to evaluate a work effort after it is completed and gathers feedback on what went well, what did not go according to plan, and what could be done differently in the future.
Retrospective results were reviewed with trustees at the Board’s May 21, 2021, meeting and preliminary recommendations for the next search process were discussed. Additional input and information will continue to be gathered following this discussion. The next presidential search will not begin until the fall term to ensure that students and nine-month faculty are available to participate.
In addition to this retrospective review, under a separate effort, the OSU Board is also conducting an evaluation by an independent firm of the sufficiency and reasonableness of the background check process used during the last search.
The survey closed on 5:00 p.m. on May 17
The community was invited to provide feedback on the 2019 OSU presidential search via a feedback survey. Feedback was received from May 4 – May 17. Input gathered by the survey about major elements of the 2019 search will help the OSU Board of Trustees set the course for the next presidential search.
