Continue attracting and supporting a diverse, world-class faculty

 

Increased the number of endowed faculty positions to 181.

Advanced a comprehensive strategy to improve the retention and success of employees of color, emphasizing onboarding, supervision, mentorship, and community livability.

Launched the OSU Future Faculty Pathways program to introduce talented doctoral scholars, committed to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education, to Oregon State University.

Created a more holistic portfolio of workshops and opportunities for faculty and leader development, including the Academic Leadership Academy and the New Academic Faculty Academy (NAFA), as well as promotion and tenure trainings for faculty, committee chairs and members, and administrators.

Established a new Professor of Teaching rank, which emphasizes curricular development and pedagogical strategies and practices and includes research and scholarship, implemented fall 2023. 

Updated promotion and tenure (P&T) guidelines to:

  • Recognize teaching, scholarship, and service in the realm of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. These efforts were anchored in the recommendations of an OSU faculty-led national coalition of more than 65 universities on P&T in the context of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (“PTIE”).
  • Clarify expectations related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and create resources to aid DEI planning and reporting in annual reviews and P&T dossiers.
