Make strategic investments in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scholarship, teaching and engagement
Created new spaces for transdisciplinary research, teaching, and engagement, including:
- The Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx, opening April 2024), which will promote and facilitate an arts-based approach to all types of knowledge and serve as a site for the integration of the arts, humanities, and STEM in research and education.
- The new Collaborative Innovation Complex (CIC, opening in 2025), which will house one of the nation’s most powerful supercomputers and be the site of team-based research in artificial intelligence, materials science, and robotics to solve global challenges in areas such as climate science, oceanography, sustainability, and water resources.
Developed a certificate in Design for Social Impact for students who desire design skills and practices to serve society as collaborative thinkers, informed doers and accountable leaders.
Approved the development of an interdisciplinary graduate program in applied data science, underway.
