Washington Supreme Court decision determines Pac-12 governance

Dec. 16, 2023

Dear OSU Community Members:

Yesterday, the Washington Supreme Court gave Oregon State University and Washington State University a significant victory, denying a request to review last month’s superior court decision to grant us sole governance of the Pac-12 Conference Board as its only remaining members. We can now begin the hard work of protecting the conference’s assets, addressing its liabilities, ensuring accountability and charting the conference’s path.

This moment should not pass without recognizing the perseverance and strength of Beaver Nation. Thanks to your support for OSU student-athletes, coaches and athletics staff, we have now achieved what we set out to do.

The Beavers will continue to compete as Pac-12 teams into next year. Reser stadium will once again come to life with seven highly competitive home games and an unrivaled fan experience. OSU student-athletes will continue to thrive across 16 sports programs that prioritize their health and well-being, while competing at the highest level possible.

In this era of conference realignment, there is always uncertainty. The world cannot be exactly as it was prior to the momentous events of August 4th. But true to our values and clear in the purpose we share with our community and our state, we continue to rally and secure our own future.

Go Beavs!
