Dear OSU Community Members,

Please join me on Wednesday, April 24, by participating in Dam Proud Day, Oregon State University’s fifth annual day of giving and engagement.

This is the time when the Oregon State community rallies together to support its students, programs and initiatives. Employee, student, donor, alumni and community engagement is key to Dam Proud Day’s success: Participate in events in Corvallis, Bend, Portland and online and make a gift online to funds that personally inspire you to celebrate OSU on this special day.

Save the date for Dam Proud Day, April 24.

And even more importantly, share with your family and friends about what makes you Dam Proud of Oregon State and consider the ways you can support OSU students on this exciting day.

Nearly 80% of Dam Proud Day funds benefit students directly, with the remainder supporting university priority programs and initiatives. I am excited to share that my husband, Sanjay, and I are joining challenge donors who have already made challenges totaling more than $1 million.

Not sure where to direct your gift? Consider these two priority funds.

  • Finish in Four: This fall, with the release of our strategic plan Prosperity Widely Shared, we set a goal to become a university where every student graduates. In order to make that a reality, we must help students graduate on time with minimal debt. Our top philanthropic priority for gifts that support student success is the Finish in Four program, which will provide four-year scholarships for Oregonians with high financial need. Sanjay and I have made a $20,000 challenge gift in support of Finish in Four.

  • OSU Athletics Fund for Excellence: Another priority is the OSU Athletics Fund for Excellence. For many, OSU Athletics is the front door to the university, central to how prospective students and the world perceive Oregon State University. Gifts for this fund will help more than 550 OSU student-athletes continue to achieve at the highest levels and develop holistically during this time of constant change, while bringing international visibility to the university.

Thank you in advance for your participation. I am especially grateful to the OSU Foundation for leading the way, as well as to university leaders, faculty, staff and students who have worked hard to make Dam Proud Day an exceptional OSU tradition.

I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish when we rally together.

Go Beavs!
