Mission & Vision
Our mission is to advance the success, belonging, and visibility of Latino/a/e communities at Oregon State University. Rooted in equity and cultural affirmation, we work to ensure that Latino/a/e employees thrive and that OSU reflects, engages, and supports the people it serves across Oregon.
Our vision is an OSU where Latino/a/e communities — in all their linguistic, cultural, racial, and historical diversity — flourish as valued partners in shaping the university’s future.
Community of Shared Interest
The Commission represents a diverse coalition of OSU employees with personal, cultural, and professional connections to Latin America, the Caribbean, and Latino/a/e communities in the United States. Our community includes people with varied:
- Countries of origin
- Indigenous and Afrodescendant heritages
- Languages (Spanish, English, Portuguese, Indigenous languages, Spanglish)
- Immigration and generational experiences
- Racial and cultural identities
We recognize the barriers many Latino/a/e employees face and advocate for equitable access, retention, advancement, and representation.
