Dear OSU Colleagues:
We are now one year into implementation of the University’s 2024-30 strategic plan, Prosperity Widely Shared. An Implementation Steering Committee appointed and chaired by Provost Feser includes leaders from across the institution and meets monthly to review progress, coordinate and problem-solve. Beyond this steering group, work is being carried out in all corners of OSU. We are making progress.
To continue the momentum, we are launching two annual university-wide summits to exchange ideas and strategize about how best to reach our goals. The first, scheduled for April 22, 2025, is focused on Goal 2: Every Student Graduates. This goal commits us to becoming a university deeply committed to the principle that every student we admit in person or online should achieve their goal to graduate. Please save the date and stay tuned for details.
Themes of this student success-focused summit will include increasing retention and graduation rates, improving access to education, improving time to degree, innovation in pedagogy across modalities, data and analytics, and attention to work in Corvallis, at OSU- Cascades, and via Ecampus.
The second summit will focus on Goal 1: Big Discoveries, Big Solutions. This research and innovation summit will include themes related to research infrastructure and PI support, economic development, publicly engaged scholarship, arts-humanities-STEM integration, developing the four target areas of research distinction, data and analytics, and collaboration among Corvallis, OSU-Cascades, Extension and Experiment Stations, and HMSC. This summit will take place in fall 2025, with the date to be determined.
Summits will include keynote speakers, breakout sessions, focused tracks, professional development, and more. We’ll also take time to celebrate our successes.
Additional details are coming soon. If you have programming ideas for the April 22 summit, Steve Wuhs or Brandi Fuhrman. If you have general questions about the summits, contact Gigi Bruce.
Thank you for all you are doing to advance OSU’s strategic plan and our mission to promote economic, social, cultural, and environmental progress for the people of Oregon, the nation, and the world.
