Announcing AI@OSU advisory group and website

Dec. 8, 2023

Dear Oregon State Colleagues,

At Oregon State University, we’re striving to embrace the ethical and thoughtful use of artificial intelligence (AI) in research, teaching and engagement as well as make our own contributions to the next wave of AI innovation. Indeed, work is well underway at different levels across OSU on a variety of initiatives and policies around the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in different mission areas.

Today I write to you to announce the establishment of an AI@OSU Advisory Group that will facilitate the development of institutional strategy, the coordination of work, and the sharing of information and lessons. I’m pleased that Professor Vrushali Bokil, associate dean for graduate studies and research in the College of Science, has agreed to chair the group. We’ve also created an AI@OSU website that will serve as convenient portal for OSU community members seeking informational resources, updates on how the university is engaging with AI in its mission elements and administration, and AI-related OSU news and accomplishments. We’ll be posting more information about the work of the advisory group on the page soon.

If you have questions about these efforts, please contact Professor Bokil or reach out to me.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser

Provost and Executive Vice President
