College of Health Leadership

April 29, 2024

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to inform you that effective immediately, Dean of the College of Health Brian Primack is taking a leave of absence in order to attend to some important personal matters.

I have asked Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Rick Settersten to serve as Acting Dean, effective today. Since August 2021, Dr. Settersten has been responsible for leading efforts to guide and support academic units in building and supporting an outstanding and diverse academic faculty; stewarding the University’s promotion and tenure process; overseeing the development, approval and tracking of university policies and standards; leading efforts to develop and support academic leaders; and stewarding shared governance practices. Dr. Settersten is also a University Distinguished Professor of Life Course and Human Development, and he previously served the College of Health as head of the School of Social and Behavioral Health Sciences, and prior to that, as the founding director of the Hallie E. Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families.

President Murthy and I look forward to working with Dr. Settersten in his acting role and are fully dedicated to the success of the College of Health.

Edward Feser

Provost and Executive Vice President
