Dr. Roy Haggerty serves as Provost and Executive Vice President at Oregon State University, where he is the university’s chief academic and operating officer, senior international officer, and a key partner to President Jayathi Y. Murthy.
Dr. Haggerty oversees implementation of the University’s strategic plan – Prosperity Widely Shared – and progress toward the University’s goals in enrollment, education, scholarship, faculty excellence, public engagement, internationalization, technology, and leadership development. He provides leadership for the academic enterprise, across OSU’s 11 colleges, OSU-Cascades in Bend, several administrative divisions and offices, and a robust array of statewide outreach and engagement programs.
Prior to returning to Oregon in July 2025, Dr. Haggerty held the same role at Louisiana State University, where he led major initiatives in AI, cybersecurity, and student success. Prior to his stint as LSU Executive Vice President and Provost, he served in multiple roles at Oregon State University, including Dean of Science; Associate Vice President for Research; Interim Dean of the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences; and Geology Program Head in the College of Science.
Dr. Haggerty’s academic background is in hydrology, and his scientific contributions include more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and nearly $10 million in externally funded research. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America and was awarded OSU’s highest recognition for service, the Beaver Champion Award. (B.S.
