OSU Faculty and Staff,

It is my pleasure to inform you that Dr. Jim Coakley has accepted an appointment as interim dean of the College of Business, effective Aug. 1.

Dr. Coakley has 30 years of experience in the College of Business, including in a number of administrative roles since 2003, and has served under five deans. For the past four years, he has served as senior associate dean of analytics and operations, providing oversight of all non-professorial instructional faculty and faculty services. He also facilitated the creation of the Master of Science in business and the Bachelor of Science in business analytics degree programs.

An associate professor of accounting, Dr. Coakley’s MBA and Ph.D. are from the University of Utah. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

I am grateful that Dr. Coakley has agreed to serve in the interim role until a national search is completed and a permanent dean is in place. To ensure a smooth transition, he will work closely with Dean Montoya before her departure for Washington State University at the end of July.

Please join me in thanking Dr. Coakley for taking on the interim deanship and, once again, congratulating Dr. Montoya and wishing her well in her new post at WSU.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
Provost and Executive Vice President
