University, Coalition for Graduate Employees Reach Tentative Agreement

To: OSU faculty, staff and students

From: Edward Feser, Provost and Executive Vice President

12 June 2020

Dear OSU faculty, staff and students,

I am writing to announce that bargaining teams for the university and the Coalition for Graduate Employees have reached a tentative agreement on a successor collective bargaining agreement for OSU’s graduate assistants employed in teaching and research.

The tentative agreement was reached Thursday, June 11, after 17 hours of bargaining. Once implemented, the agreement will serve as a four-year successor agreement to the university’s current contract with CGE and will run from July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2024. The agreement includes the option for a re-opener beginning in winter 2022.

I extend my sincere thanks to the members of the CGE and university bargaining teams who devoted considerable time to considering and discussing numerous proposals, ultimately bringing us to this tentative agreement.

If you have questions, please reach out to CGE leaders or Heather Horn, associate vice provost and senior director of employee and labor relations. I will provide further bargaining agreement updates as more information is available.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
Provost and Executive Vice President
