Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex update and search for Executive Director

Feb. 7, 2025

Dear Colleagues:

I write to provide an update on the status of the Jen-Hsun Huang and Lori Mills Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex.

The Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex will be a state-of-the-art hub for interdisciplinary research focused on global challenges in climate, energy, environment, marine science and other fields. It will house a supercomputer to enhance the use of artificial intelligence and accelerated computing in OSU's key research areas, provide other specialized spaces currently unavailable to OSU researchers, and support the translation of discoveries into application. It is essential for achieving the goals of Prosperity Widely Shared.

Construction is well underway. We expect the exterior to be complete by late summer and the interior should be outfitted and ready for occupancy in the fall of 2026, also the target date for the installation of the supercomputer.

A search is now underway for an inaugural executive director who will work closely with other university leaders and the university community to further develop and implement the vision for the complex. I encourage your nominations of top candidates. Please submit them here. You may also attend the information session scheduled for Monday, Feb. 17, 130 – 230 pm, via Zoom, to share your input regarding the attributes and qualifications needed in the person who will fill this key role. Visit the search website to learn more and to read updates as the search progresses.

If you would like more information about the background, construction and plans for the facility, please see the Huang Complex webpage and the recent coverage in the Daily Barometer and OSU Today.

Finally, I express my thanks to the great many faculty, staff and students who have helped inform the vision and development of this transformational project.
