Progress made on Prosperity Widely Shared

June 4, 2025

Dear Oregon State Colleagues,

Since implementation began in 2024, Prosperity Widely Shared: The Oregon State Plan has guided the university, providing focused and clear goals to steer our path forward through 2030. Our ambitious, yet achievable, goals will position OSU for future success.

I write today to share progress on the plan and to confirm our commitment to PWS goals. Visit this new  webpage to review detailed updates and progress on major PWS actions. Keeping our priorities and shared goals front and center is central to the plan’s success, and your many contributions are core to our collective efforts.

Higher education faces unprecedented challenges, and the choices we make today will have significant impact on guiding our future. Some in our community have inquired about changes to PWS actions and tactics following federal actions or the university budget realignment announced in April. I believe that there is not yet enough clarity to make definitive changes, but changes may be warranted at some future date. Until that time, we will stay the course and continue to invest in PWS.

Despite the significant challenges currently faced by OSU and higher education institutions nationwide, I am reassured by the early progress made on PWS goals and actions. I remain optimistic about OSU’s future and how PWS guides our work to become a catalyst for equitable and sustainable prosperity. We each play an essential role in achieving the ambitious shared goals of our strategic plan.

As the academic year draws to a close, I am reminded that we have much to celebrate as a community, including upcoming commencement ceremonies. I sincerely thank you for all you do to advance our shared goals, and I wish you all the best for a productive and enjoyable summer.

Sincerely,

Belinda Batten

Interim Provost and Executive Vice President
