Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Executive Director for Business Architecture Sam Williams will serve as interim vice provost for the Division of University Information and Technology and chief information officer effective on Feb. 1.
Sam is an executive technology leader with over 25 years of experience in higher education and nonprofit sectors. He has served at OSU as Executive Director for Business Architecture since August 2023. Before that, he served as Linfield University’s Chief Information Officer for three years. Sam’s experience and expertise, combined with his focus and dedication to the UIT mission and OSU goals, will help to ensure continued progress and momentum for AMP, Research Computing, and other high-priority initiatives.
Sam will lead UIT until the appointment of a new vice provost, following a national search. Details regarding the vice provost search will be shared via the Executive Searches webpage as soon as the search advisory committee and executive search firm are confirmed.
I offer my thanks to Senior Advisor to the Provost Belinda Batten for chairing the screening committee for the interim search and for her willingness to also chair the national search. Questions regarding the national search process may be directed to Belinda or to Chief Assistant to the Provost Gigi Bruce. Nominations for the position are encouraged and may be sent directly to Gigi at your convenience.
Please join me in congratulating Sam and thanking him for taking on the interim role, and once again, expressing our gratitude to outgoing Vice Provost/CIO Andrea Ballinger for her leadership.
