Update: Division of Academic Affairs Leadership Transition

Oct. 16, 2025

Dear OSU Colleagues,

I write with an update concerning my recent announcement regarding the leadership transition in the Division of Academic Affairs. I am incredibly pleased to share that Senior Vice Provost Alix Gitelman has agreed to remain in her role through the academic year. She plans to retire at the end of June 2026.

This change will allow for Dr. Gitelman to continue work on several high priority and time-sensitive projects. This is very welcome news.

The timeline for the internal search for a new Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs will be adjusted, with the expectation that thew new SVPAA will start on or near July 1, 2026.

If you have already submitted a nomination or expressed interest in the role, you will not need to do so again. New nominations are welcome; you may send pertinent information to Gigi Bruce. My office will notify the university community when the position has been posted, and pertinent details will be added to this website as they become available.

I am grateful that Dr. Gitelman will continue to be a key member of the university’s senior leadership team and provide leadership for the Division of Academic Affairs for the remainder of the academic year.

Roy Haggerty

Provost and Executive Vice President
