For over four decades, Eric Gleske has combined storytelling with media production, working as a photojournalist, sound recordist, editor, and television producer and director—often in multiple roles at the same time.
He began at his local public television station, then part of New Hampshire’s land-grant university, as a volunteer while in high school, and quickly advanced to contributing camera, sound, and editing skills to a variety of programs. In the early 90’s, while working for the cable system in Walla Walla, he expanded the distance education efforts of WSU by coordinating automated playback of 30 weekly hours of classes and lectures on the local access channel.
A freelance career included work as a camera operator for regional and national sports programming as well as independent producer/director credits, and he served for a decade as a television producer and director at the University of New Hampshire, . Arriving at OSU in June of 2006, he was instrumental in developing many of the early live streaming productions and video board shows for baseball, basketball, and gymnastics events.
His work has received numerous awards over the years, including CASE, Emmy, Tellys, CINE Gold Eagles among others, but his most recent honors for service at OSU, including the OSU Exemplary Employee Award and the inaugural campus IT Customer Service Award, offer the greatest satisfaction. He has been the television director for OSU’s commencement since 2011, and lives in Corvallis with a patient wife, two grown children, and a pair of dogs.
