Lauren Camou

Corvallis, OR

Lauren Camou is a senior at Oregon State University (OSU), studying Natural Resources Pre-Law with a focus on environmental law for water resources. A passionate advocate for inclusivity and higher education access, Lauren is deeply committed to fostering a supportive and adaptive environment for all students. They are currently serving on the OSU Board of Trustees, a position they were appointed to after advocating for students' rights and needs in both Oregon and Washington, D.C.

Raised in Beaverton, OR, Lauren’s journey through higher education has been shaped by their personal experiences as a queer, disabled student with food insecurity, housing insecurity, and the struggle to afford college. These challenges have fueled their dedication to ensuring that students from all backgrounds have the resources and support they need to succeed.

Lauren's leadership extends beyond the Board of Trustees; they have been active in the Associated Students of Oregon State University (ASOSU), where they advocated for student welfare and worked to create an inclusive and accessible community at OSU. They are driven by a belief that every student should have access to a high-quality education and the tools to thrive personally and academically. Lauren’s ultimate goal is to contribute to systemic changes that make higher education more accessible and equitable for future generations.

Through their work, Lauren hopes to honor the impact OSU students, faculty, and alumni have had on Oregon and beyond, and to continue making meaningful contributions to the state’s success and sustainability.
